Actors and Their Movies

Do you think actors ever watch their own movies for fun? I was thinking about this the other day, thinking if, for example, Arnold was just thinking, "I haven't seen Terminator 2 in a long time, that's a sweet movie, let's watch it," and then proceeds to sit down and watch it. Do you think this ever happens?

I'm assuming right away, meaning after they finish making the movie, they don't just watch it for fun. Other than the premiers and stuff. But not for fun because they're probably tired of working it and dealing with it for so long. But then time goes by, and you'd think people would want to watch those movies, like Tom Cruise and Top Gun, I mean basically you can pick any actor with one of their movies, I'm just curious about this.

Same thing goes with musicians. You think Billy Joel ever just sits around listening to The Longest Time? Or the Black Eyed Peas rocking out to one of their songs when they're out on the town?

Just some things I've been thinking about...

Expendables Review

Alright, I'm not going to go into super detail about the movie, I am just going to say that it was AWESOME! It was exactly what I was expecting. The fight scenes were sweet, death scenes were cool, you really couldn't ask for a better film considering all the actors were in the same movie.

My favorite scene was probably the scene with Sly, Arnold, and Bruce. Mostly because I know they are all really good friends and they probably had so much fun making this movie. But most importantly, you could tell there were some inside jokes going on, and I like that stuff. Also, Bruce had one of the best lines I've ever heard, followed by an awesome laugh. It was classic.

We talked for awhile last night about which death scene was out favorite, and there were multiple that people chose. I'm not going to detail them here, but just to say that it gave us at least 20 minutes of talking just about which scene was our favorite, shows that there were a lot and there was some really cool killing in this movie.

The one and only complaint I have is that there are at least three people that should have been in it; Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and Steven Seagal. I heard Seagal and Van Damme actually refused, which was idiotic since this was the best movie ever, but I'm not so sure about Chuck Norris being asked or not, I haven't heard anything. Below you'll also find my list of honorable mentions that easily could have been in the movie, and hopefully will be a part of the sequel, if they make it.

All in all though the movie was just plain old awesome. My 12 year old self came out last night and just loved it. I definitely recommend this movie.

Honorable Mentions:
Chuck Norris
Jean-Claude Van Damme
Steven Seagal
Mel Gibson
Wesley Snipes
Michael Beihn
Kurt Russel
Val Kilmer
The Rock

Transformers 3

Alright, I know it is way too early to be talking about Transformers 3, since it's still filming right now and doesn't even come out until next summer. BUT, I just watched the 2nd one the other day and had a couple thoughts about the next. Here they are:

1) Grimlock - one of the best and most beloved transformers from the original cartoon (where this all started) and he wasn't in the first or second movie because, at least from what I heard, the director didn't think it would work having him as a T-Rex. Well....first off, in the cartoon it worked, he walked around and kept up with everybody, so no big deal there. Secondly, he, and all the other transformers for that matter, could fly if they needed to, so you could always bring that in. Lastly, and most importantly, he doesn't even have to stay as a T-Rex. I'm sure some people would be mad, but I'm a pretty huge fan of Grimlock and still ok with this scenario, is that he comes to Earth in the 3rd one, lands near a museum, copies a T-Rex and that's what he is, but then soon after Optimus, or Bumblebee, or somebody else makes fun of how he's a prehistoric dinosaur, so he changes into something else. Just like Megatron changed from the first movie (plane) to the second movie (tank). It wouldn't be hard. Plus, the best part about Grimlock is how he talks and how cool he is. I don't think it would be hard to pull this off.

2) Megan Fox and her replacement - Yes, they are both hot, that's the entire idea of all this. I get it, and I'm not saying they are unattractive, obviously they're not. I do have to say though, is that I could care less about having a hot girl in a transformer movie. Let alone any people at all. In the cartoon, there were only 2 humans that were constantly around, Spike and his son Daniel. There were random humans, since they were on Earth, but those were the only two hanging around the autobots. Why can't they just not have real people in the movie and make it a robot war? I don't mind Capt. Lennox's role (Josh Duhamel) because he leads a team of soldiers that helps out, he's not getting into stupid drama crap with his girlfriend (or family) that doesn't make any sense in a movie about a robot war. I want you to hear it here first, I could honestly care less if there's a hot chick (or humans at all) in this movie.
*On a side note, Thomas told me a good theory about Megan's replacement, and about how he's kind of a like a slap in the face to Megan. Apparently Megan and the director didn't get along well, and they didn't like working together, so the director just said fine, and went and got somebody else to replace her. The best part is he picked somebody with zero acting experience. Basically stating that this role doesn't require acting at all, it only requires you to be attractive. I like this move.

I think that's it for now. I'm sure I will enjoy the movie just like I did the last two, but these are just my thoughts. And don't get me wrong, I love the movies, I think they're both very entertaining, just thought I'd share this while it was on my mind.

The Expendables

I don't know about you, but I'm super excited to see this movie. I know what people think of it, but I don't care. All of these guys in the same movie is going to be amazing. I just wish two things: 1) Bruce and Arnold were in it more than just one scene (so I've heard) and 2) rumor has it Stallone also asked Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme, and Steven Seagal to be in it as well, I really wish they had agreed.

I honestly can't think of another action star besides these guys that belongs in this movie. So although they aren't in it, I'm still really looking forward to seeing it, the movie should be amazing.

Posing in Pictures

Why do girls make the peace sign so much in pictures? I don't mean to be picking on girls, I just never see guys doing this. And I'm all for peace, don't get me wrong, it just seems like it's a "party pose" or something. I just don't get it....

California Gurls

I keep wondering what it's like for the rest of the country to hear California Gurls by Katy Perry. I can't imagine that the rest of the country doesn't like the song, because it's a huge hit by now. But are girls from Iowa or Pennsylvania or Washington jealous? How do they feel about a song that is basically saying they're not as good as a California Girl? Or maybe they just don't think about it and just enjoy the song. Then you have to wonder though about the original California Girls by the Beach Boys, not to mention the greatest rappers ever singing California Love. Is California really as good as these people make it out to be? I think it is.

Caveat - As much as I love real California girls, and they are amazing, I've met a lot of wonderful and beautiful girls from outside the Golden State, Katrina, Kelly, Natasha, to name a few.... so please don't take this as my thoughts of girls outside California being inferior, I'm mostly just curious about how people view the song.

I'm Back

Hi All,

I'm going to try to get back into this again. However, instead of boring recaps of my weekends, I will be posting random thoughts and opinions as they come to me. Hopefully they'll be interesting enough to pass the time.

Stay tuned.
