Snowshoe Sampler, in Pints

Howdy Everyone. Sorry I've been slacking so much on the blogging. I usually remember while I'm at work, but am unable to sign in due to security reasons. Then I get home and forget about it. Alright, enough excuses.

Two weekends ago I was down in San Diego with my buddies Dennis and Bryan. If you want to read more about that, look at Dennis' blog, he talks all about it.

I'm going to focus on this past weekend, up at my cabin. Bryan and I drove up last Friday late afternoon. He couldn't get out of work til then, but it was no big deal since our real plans weren't until Saturday, so we didn't have a rush for Friday. Either way, when we arrived we had a few beers at Snowshoe like usual, then headed back to the cabin for dinner. We ate, had some beers, and played some games. It was pretty fun, but nothing special.

Saturday morning we slept in and hung out, hit up the hot tub a little bit and then got ready for our main plan. We left around 11:15am to walk, yes walk, to Snowshoe. If you've been to my cabin you know that's a solid walk, it's not just down the street. Anyway, that wasn't the best thing, since it was far, but kind of fun and it gave us some exercise for an excuse for what we were about to do. We arrived at Snowshoe at noon, and immediately had a "half time." From there, we decided to do a "sampler," which is a small glass of each beer they have. Since we were planning on being there all day, we wanted to do them in Pints.

There was some skepticism coming from both of us, we've tried all their beers before and we know we don't like certain ones, but how many opportunities like this will we have? So we said F it and went for it. Started with Pitch Black Porter, and went in reverse order from darkest to lightest. We figured that would be the best plan. I think the two worst of the day were the Porter and the Apricot, which was gross.

Anyway, we sat there all day, watched the draft a little bit, mingled with people, talked to the bartenders, sat outside in the sun for a few minutes, it was quite the afternoon. Courtney was planning to show up at 6pm for the night, which also worked out well because she was our ride home. This was all part of the plan though. Anyway she arrived right at 6pm as scheduled and hung out with us while we finished our last beer, which was 2 more after we finished the sampler, for those of you keeping score at home.

Then we just got some dinner at the market, bbq'd at home and hung out all night. Ended up going to bed pretty early but that's mostly due to the day drinking, it really makes you tired if you do it for long enough, which we did. It was really good to see Courtney too, we hadn't seen each other since November so that was really nice.

Sunday was pretty lazy in the morning, full of breakfast and movies on the couch. Always a good way to start off Sunday. Driving home wasn't ideal, but it never is.

All in all it was a great weekend! I'm sure it won't be an uncommon thing from now on, at least doing the "whole day" at Snowshoe. I doubt I'll ever do the sampler again, and I probably won't walk there unless I absolutely have to, but I will definitely spend the day at Snowshoe in the future. It was quite enjoyable.

I hope you all are doing well. Sorry it's been so long since I've done this, but I'll do my best to get back on the horse.

Take care.

Vegas Baby!

Well, I was in Vegas this last weekend for a bachelor party. Needless to say it was AMAZING! I'd love to tell you all about it, but you know the Vegas motto. Sorry everyone. I'll do my best to summarize it without breaking any rules.

1) Gambled A LOT - not down as much as I was expecting. Happy about this.
2) Drank? Yes.
3) Body English at the Hard Rock - good times.
4) Mandalay pool, daquiris, awesomeness.

Alright I think that's about it without getting too detailed. Great time. Thanks to all the boys who were there. Can't wait to do it again July 18th, in California though....

As for the rest of my thoughts: Tomorrow, Tuesday, April 7, is opening day for the Giants. Jeffy Adams is home til tomorrow night, so Bryan and I are taking the afternoon off to watch the game. We'll be at 1st and Main if anybody wants to meet up. First pitch is at 1:05pm. First beer is at 12:55.

GO GIANTS!
