Valentine's Day Weekend and Snowboarding

Hi Folks,

Well President's Day weekend is over and it was a nice 3 day weekend to say the least. Friday afternoon wasn't that great trying to get out of the bay area and up to the mountains with all of the traffic, our typical 2 1/2 hour trip took us over 4 hours. We could've done without that. However we made it up to our cabin and were rewarded with some Snowshoe beer which is needless to say, delicious. It was nice after having to walk up and down our driveway since it was full of a few feet of snow.

Saturday we went up to Bear Valley to get some snowboarding in and it was some of the best snow in the last 10 years. In fact the only other time I can remember it being that good was back when I was still skiing, which was actually more than 10 years ago, so maybe I can't count....Anyway, waist deep powder is so much fun. It sucks when you fall on a flat spot and have to dig or "swim" yourself out, but when you make a turn and the snow fluffs up into your face, there's nothing quite like it. Other than the fantastic snow, that day was pretty uneventful, especially for being Valentine's Day. I didn't have a Valentine this year, but luckily Jamie and Megan were there to keep me company. We all hung out together which was really nice, plus Jamie brought Rambo and there's nothing better than Rambo on Valentine's Day, haha.

Sunday was round 2 for skiing and it was almost a complete white out on the mountain. The snow was once again amazing, but it was tough to see past about 50 yards. We bundled up and boarded for a few hours, but called it quits around noon, mostly due to the lack of visibility, but also because there's only so much discomfort you can handle. Either way the mountain is getting a ton of much needed snow and it is so much fun. The rest of that day was nice, I didn't get a nap which could've helped, but Jamie and I watched Eurotrip while Megan napped and that's always a good movie to see. That night we bbq'd a tri-tip which was pretty tasty, and then just hung out all night. The club was closed so we didn't walk down there to party, just had a few drinks at the cabin and played some games. It was nice.

Monday came and we cleaned up and headed home. It was a very good ski weekend, but not much happened other than that. Nothing too exciting to report anyway. Now it's just back to work for the week, but thanks to my awesome job, I'm able to take this Friday off, which means only a 3 day week for me and another 3 day weekend next weekend! I won't be heading up to the cabin though, Thomas is putting on his art show Saturday night and pretty much the entire city is invited. It should be fun. If you'd like to check out the information for his art show, please click here.

So stay cool California, and you too Frank.
